Bullets and Bowls of Spaghetti

The New York Times recently featured an article highlighting the (mis)use of PowerPoint by the United States military. The writer begins with a color coded “bowl of spaghetti” diagram intended to portray military strategy in Afghanistan, then goes on to quote a general as saying, “Some problems in the world are not bullet-izable.” The real problem is not necessarily PowerPoint of course, rather how it is used. Anemic Olympic Presentation

Following Chicago’s “embarrassing” first-round exit from the voting for the 2016 Olympics, reports quote at least one International Olympic Committee (IOC) member as placing part of the blame on an anemic presentation from the Windy City. The presentations are held behind closed doors, but apparently Rio de Janeiro made quite a splash with a presentation led by Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Continue reading →
